Keyboard shortcuts

The single-key shortcuts of the topology views, the menu shortcuts on macOS and Windows, and the syntax of the FID command line.

KLSTR.ctrl has two kinds of keyboard shortcuts: single keys that act on the topology view you are looking at, and menu shortcuts with Cmd on macOS or Ctrl on Windows that work anywhere in the window.

Topology views

These keys work while the Network Topology or Device Topology tab is open. They do nothing while you are typing in a text field, for example the sidebar search: click an empty part of the view first.

KeyWhat it doesSee
::kbd ::Selects every node in the view: all networked devices in the Network Topology, or all fixtures of the open device in the Device TopologySelect devices
::kbd ::Clears the selectionSelect devices
::kbd ::Arranges the nodes automatically when you release the key, like Auto distribute. In the Network Topology it arranges the selected nodes, or the whole view when nothing is selected; in the Device Topology it always arranges the whole viewArrange nodes
::kbd ::Fits the view to all nodes, like the fit-view buttonNavigate the topology views
::kbd ::Meant to switch identify on hover on and off. In this version a press of the key leaves the setting as it was. Use the identify on hover button in the Identify group of the toolbar insteadIdentify devices
::kbd ::Opens the FID> command line, see belowSelect devices

FID command line

Press : in a topology view to open the FID> command line. It selects devices by Fixture ID and can identify them too. Press Enter to run the command and close the line, Esc to close it without doing anything. Clicking elsewhere also closes it.

You typeYou get
5Fixture ID 5
1 Thru 10Every Fixture ID from 1 to 10 that exists. Thru can also be written t or >, in any case
100 ThruEvery Fixture ID from 100 up
Thru 8Every Fixture ID up to 8
1 Thru 10 - 51 to 10 without 5. + adds, - removes, read from left to right
1 Thru 10 + 20 Thru 251 to 10 and 20 to 25
0Every device that has no Fixture ID yet (Fixture ID 0). Ranges never include 0
... at atThe devices of the command, identified as well. @@ and @ @ work too. It switches identify on for all of them, or off when they are all identifying already
at atIdentifies the current selection, without changing it
  • A command without at at replaces the current selection, numbered in the order you typed the Fixture IDs.
  • Several devices can share a Fixture ID. Typing it selects all of them.
  • A range quietly skips Fixture IDs that don't exist. A single Fixture ID that doesn't exist shows a message such as FID 7 not found, and the rest of the command still runs.
  • When the command can't be read, the line turns red and says why, for example Expected + or - or 'at at' must be at the end of the command. Fix the command and press Enter again.
