KLSTR.nano Provisioning Guide

This guide covers the provisioning workflow for KLSTR.nano modules as a fixture manufacturer.

Prerequisites

  • Active manufacturer account on the KLSTR. portal
  • KLSTR.ctrl software installed (latest version)
  • USB-C cable for initial flashing
  • Device allocation available in your manufacturer budget

Provisioning Workflow

1. Register your fixture model

Before provisioning devices, register your fixture model in the manufacturer portal:

  1. Log in to the KLSTR. manufacturer portal.
  2. Navigate to Products > Add Fixture Model.
  3. Enter the fixture name, DMX channel count, and GDTF file.
  4. Submit for approval — KLSTR. engineering will validate within 1 business day.

2. Request device allocation

Each KLSTR.nano module requires a license key tied to your manufacturer account.

  1. In the manufacturer portal, go to Provisioning > Request Allocation.
  2. Specify the quantity and target fixture model.
  3. Once approved, license keys are generated and linked to your account.

3. Flash firmware

Connect the KLSTR.nano module via USB-C and use KLSTR.ctrl to flash:

  1. Open KLSTR.ctrl and navigate to Tools > Firmware Flash.
  2. Select the target firmware version (recommended: latest stable).
  3. Click Flash and wait for the process to complete (~30 seconds).
  4. The module LED will turn solid green when flashing is successful.

4. Assign license key

After flashing, assign a license key from your allocation:

  1. In KLSTR.ctrl, go to Tools > License Management.
  2. The connected module's serial number will appear automatically.
  3. Click Assign License — a key from your pool will be bound to the module.
  4. Verify the module LED is no longer blinking red (which indicates no license).

5. Verify functionality

Run a quick verification before installing the module in your fixture:

  1. Connect the module to a DMX source.
  2. Verify DMX pass-through on DMX_OUT.
  3. Check that the module appears in KLSTR.ctrl's device discovery.
  4. Confirm the correct fixture model and channel count are reported.

Bulk Provisioning

For production runs, KLSTR. offers a bulk provisioning tool that automates steps 3–5 for batches of modules. Contact your account manager for access.
